About Dr. Stephen Trudeau

Raised in the San Fernando Valley, a suburb of Los Angeles. He attended local Catholic and public schools, and now describes himself as a “recovering juvenile delinquent.” Seeking nothing more than to exit formal education and learn from the school of hard knocks, and after nearly a decade of getting knocked around by life, he once again took on the challenge of a formal education. Without ever taking the SAT’s he enrolled in Los Angeles Valley College, receiving his AA degree in Psychology. Then transferring to California State University Northridge, he graduated with honors with his BA in Psychology. He then was accepted to Ryokan College in Los Angeles receiving a Masters degree and later his Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.

During this period of education and self-discovery, he met the love of his life, Mary. They married in 1997 and have beautiful young son, Devin who has cerebral palsy and hydrocelphalus. They reside in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Dr. Trudeau completed his internship at Stirling Behavioral Health Institute in Westlake Village, CA. Also becoming first School Based Mental Health Services Coordinator and then being promoted to Program Director for the clinic. He later opened his own private practice in Westlake Village.

Dr. Trudeau is very active in the local communities that he serves volunteering his time with Teen Court for the City of Calabasas, advising the Juvenile Team for the Los Angeles County Sheriffs at Lost Hills Station, consulting with the Agoura Hills Teen Advisory Committee, panelist for the Is Your Teen Road Ready? Program. And is currently on the board of directors for the special needs charity, Pause4Kids.

As a public speaker he has giving special presentation and keynote speeches to public and private organizations on diverse topics of Motivation, Special Needs Parenting, suicide prevention, drug use and abuse, and Thriving during difficult times. Some of his clients include: Pepperdine University, Los Angeles College, Los Angeles Diocese Catholic Church, National Hydrocephalus Association. Clinivate, Ventura Police Department.

Dr. Trudeau’s adventures in the media have been many and varied. He published his book, The Special Needs of Parenting, in 2009 based on his own experiences as the father of a special needs child and that of being a clinical psychologist.  He co-hosts on the Kim Pagano Show on KKZZ in Ventura with Motivational Mondays.  He has appeared on numerous television programs such as 1000 Ways to Die, and Operation Repo as a featured expert and is often called upon to give his opinion on local news stations on current events.
